Growth Tip of the Week!

Growing slowly might be a blessing, not a curse!

Wilson says that he's really enjoying slow and steady growth.

"Because my SaaS isn't growing too fast, we've made many pivots and technical changes without getting whiplash. I've been able to fix many bugs that could have been critical at scale."

It makes sense at the early stage. You need time to figure out what works best and that's okay!

Ads

Google ads is releasing its bumper ad creation tool to all advertisers which shortens longer videos to six-second bumper ads.

"All you have to do is paste a link to one of your YouTube videos or grab one from your Google Ads library, and the tool will generate four different six-second ads." - said the Search Engine Journal

With rising importance of video content, create stories of how your SaaS creates value. You'll stand out and differentiate.

Lead Gen

Do you have a Live Chat enabled on your SaaS website? It's a great way to turn your cold visitors into warm buyers.

You can take quick info like email or phone numbers of interested leads. And leads prefer instant responses to their questions.

Use tools like Drift or Intercom. Get the necessary feedback and craft personalized messages to get the prospects more interested

Content Marketing

The marketing funnel is broken into three top of the funnel (TOFU), middle of the funnel (MOFU), and bottom of the funnel (BOFU).

The Browser Media shares a simple 5 step content strategy:

1) Collate all content you have and sort into TOFU, MOFU, and BOFU categories -> 2) Segment content by audience -> 3) Create tailored messaging for each audience segment -> 4) Determine which platforms will be used to promote your content -> 5) Build out audiences for each platform based on the goal for content.

Community

Your SaaS is likely to have strong competition. But the good part is almost all markets are huge. Building your community will give your SaaS those extra wings to keep going and make you more money.

Rosie Sherry says in the future, every niche will have competition in the community. The future needs an independent community that serves the need of the people, not that of the product.

Copywriting

The new British Airways ads from Uncommon have hit the streets, and I love how the copy makes pedestrians connect emotions.

The ads have the forms you fill out upon arrival in a new destination, asking if you're traveling for business or leisure. But the emotional connection is really the third option. Check out some of their short video ads.

A real lesson here is to write copy on how your SaaS can truly connect with your prospect's emotions.

Email Marketing

Your saas can increase MRR by implementing a strong sign-up email flow that walks the customer through and onboarding them.

Muhib says 85% of customers will pay more for a SaaS product if there is a high-quality customer experience.

You need to maximize the revenue you make from every user you have to survive and win. Build email flows around your user behavior to keep them for the longest.

Growth Marketing

Retention marketing is an overlooked component of growth as it reduces churn and expands existing accounts. Forbes Tech Council says Only 18% of SaaS companies focus on retention while 44% on customer acquisition.

To calculate customer retention rate: CRR = ((E-N)/S) X 100 where E is the number of customers at the end of a period, N is the number of new customers acquired during that period, and S is the number of customers at the start of that period.

Offering a strong customer experience, delighting unexpectedly, personalizing experiences and interactions, and rewarding loyalty are four strategies to have good retention.

Sales

Understand the importance of relationship-building messages that you can create in your SaaS for sales.

No matter what source of communication you choose for your SaaS sales (phone, email, social), the key to making it productive and profitable is knowing how to communicate and deliver a value-driven message.

It improves familiarity. Improves sales.

SEO

Creating how-to guides and learning tools will enable your SaaS to rank higher. This increases your chances of directing users to your site and desired page.

The more you give away for free in terms of valuable information, the more your visitors will trust you – which will give you the edge over your competition.

Use learning tools as outreach material to spread the word and get your content in front of the right eye.

Social Media Marketing

The Drum in its latest report mentions that audio as a form of content marketing will be big in 2023.

Your niche audience is already listening to a podcast, so have your SaaS advertised to this audience of podcast listeners.

Gaming is also a creative angle if your SaaS fits in. A study by AudioMob says 75% of mobile gamers prefer audio ads.
