Ads 📈

Are you looking for new ways to drive free trials and users to your SaaS product? Video ads can be a mind-blowing way to build your leads, especially when targeted towards your user persona.

Mike brings you to 7 types of ads that you need to test right now to capture attention and drive conversions:

  1. Explainer Videos: SaaS explainer videos are frequently used to launch new products or features In some cases, explainer videos even help established companies branch out into new markets and target audiences Keep in mind that your customer always thinks: What’s in it for me?A great explainer video:

    1. Identifies and addresses the pain customers are facing

    2. Provides an overview of how your product solves those problems

    3. Creates a vivid image of what life could look like when the problems are gone

    4. Drives leads

  2. Customer Testimonial Videos: Customer testimonial videos are powerful tools for building trust and enhancing credibility. They feature real customers sharing their real experiences, providing relatable insights into your product’s value. They are evidence your product works.Traditional, written testimonials work as well. But, video customer testimonials tend to work better as undecided customers often make decisions more swiftly when they listen to authentic feedback from a real user. That’s how humans work.

  3. SaaS Promo Video: Ads An effective video ad should accomplish two primary objectives:

    1. Stop viewers from scrolling

    2. Make them click Video ads

    3. make you stand out from the competition

    4. showcase your distinct selling propositions

    5. generate new leads.

  4. UGC-Style Videos: These videos combine the elements of Video Ads and Testimonial videos. By showcasing your business’s benefits from the perspective of your clients, they provide a compelling narrative. Typically, these videos employ an explanatory style with a voice-over.

  5. Product Demo Videos: Product Demo Videos, despite their similarity to Explainer Videos, serve a different purpose. They go deeper into actual usage of your software and demonstrate how to use specific features or functions - usually with a screen capture or live walk-through.

  6. Educational Videos: To thrive in the competitive SaaS landscape, it is crucial to proactively differentiate yourself. Educational videos are a great opportunity for that. They are centered around educating your audience. This contributes to brand trust and loyalty.By sharing helpful info related to your business, you’re positioning your brand as an expert. This makes people trust your brand more, making them more likely to choose your SaaS product when they need a solution.

  7. Onboarding Videos: They have one purpose - to help new customers understand how to use your software. A good onboarding video:

    1. Reduces learning curve

    2. Increases user retention

    3. Features key features of your software

    4. Makes new users feel welcomed and valued

Which of these video ads would you find interesting? How could you make video ads for your SaaS in a similar way? Even if you’re not ready to invest in ads yet, try it out in your content calendar. See if there is any particular video that is resonating well with your audience.

Copywriting 📈

Building your SaaS campaigns is now tough. Here's why: Buyers have become numb to marketing lingo. "10x your revenue", "Project management on autopilot", "AI-powered business intelligence"

What does any of this even mean?

Liam says you need to try message mining. It's the process of (ethically) stealing phrases and angles from your target market and the *secret* to our high-converting campaigns.

Message mining enables you to speak to your buyer personas in their own language, target pain points they actually care about and stand out in a sea of buzzwords. It takes the guesswork out of the equation.

Here's how:

  1.  Find the watering holes.

The internet is filled with communities where groups of people with similar interests network and seek advice from each other. Find where your target persona congregates online and become a fly on the wall:

  • What questions do they ask?

  • What words and phrases do they repeatedly use?

  • What do they look for in a solution like ours?

I've found forums like Quora and Reddit to be extremely useful for this.

  1. 1:1 Interviews

Want to identify the underlying motivations and desires that drive purchase decisions? Speak to the people who have purchased your product. There is no better source for this information. I like to ask open-ended questions such as:

  • How would you describe product X to a friend?

  • How does product X impact your day-to-day?

The answers to these questions are gold dust.

  1. Categorize your findings

Put your research into these three buckets:

  • Motivation: What motivates them to make a purchase? a. Desired outcomes, b. Challenges & pain points, c. Purchase prompts

  • Value Propositions: What do they need to see and hear from us? a. Unique benefits, b. Nice-to-have features, c. Dealbreakers

  • Anxieties: What would hold them back? a. Uncertainties, b. Objections, c. Perceived risks

  1. Copy swiping

The previous steps will help you develop compelling ideas and angles, but the real magic happens with copy swiping.

This is the process of swiping the exact words and phrases used by your target persona and using them to create hooks, headlines and prompts. It's the secret to scroll-stopping campaigns. It's how you go from:

"Ugh, another company pitching me" → "Wait, this is exactly what I'm looking for"

Stop trying to fit buyers into *your* mould, instead, try to enter the conversation they already have in their minds.

Growth Marketing 📈

Arpit says scarcity can boost your SaaS sales by up to 400%. It can turn a hesitant buyer into a committed customer.

What is Scarcity? Scarcity creates a sense of urgency by making something limited in supply. When we believe something is scarce, its perceived value skyrockets!

  1. The Numbers Don't Lie: Studies show that 9 out of 10 consumers are more likely to purchase a product or service when it's presented as limited or exclusive.

  2. Time-Limited Scarcity: Think about those flash sales that make you click that "Buy Now" button. Limited-time offers create a fear of missing out (FOMO) and drive immediate action.

  3. Quantity Limited Scarcity: Ever noticed how "Only 5 left in stock" pushes you to make a purchase decision faster? When availability is limited, our desire to secure the product intensifies.

  4. Access-Limited Scarcity: Exclusive memberships, invite-only events, or VIP experiences create an aura of exclusivity. People crave access to what's considered special or restricted.

  5. Scarcity in Action: Remember the limited-edition sneakers that sold out within minutes? Brands use scarcity to build buzz, create demand, and elevate their products' perceived value.

He continues to share some tips when deploying scarcity:

  • Beware of Reactance: Authenticity matters! Faking scarcity or creating false urgency can backfire and erode trust. Ensure your scarcity claims are genuine to maintain credibility.

  • Take Action: Consider integrating scarcity in your marketing arsenal. Craft limited-time offers, highlight limited stock, or create exclusive experiences. Harness the power of scarcity to drive conversions and captivate your audience!

Have you ever been influenced by scarcity in your purchasing decisions?

SEO 📈

With AI and content being uploaded at SUPERMAN pace, would SEO die in the future? It’s not going to die but it will evolve. And that’s why SEO + CBO becomes important!

Sukh says most think SEO is dead. It's not. It's actually expanded to 10x. Here's how: (If you're a startup founder, you NEED to read this)

People can ask way more deep questions now. There's no more just: "red bike buy" Now there's: "What is the best red bike to buy so I can go bike riding in the summer in Toronto" More questions mean more opportunities for you to write answers.

Google is just summarizing the top links. Bard/AI search is more or less reading top sites and summarizing their information. For the user, the answer is now in 1 place and not split across 10 links. You now MUST be in the top SEO rankings to get Google to reference you.

It's not just SEO, it's SEO + CBO. CBO = Chatbot Optimization. You must optimize your content so the AI search shows you in their search results. What if you were the top result for "What is the best app for note-taking in school?" You would get 100% of the traffic!

What do you think about starting to optimize already for Chatbots?

Social Media Marketing

Twitter is one of the most common marketing channels for solo SaaS founders. It’s great to build connections and build in public. Lots of SaaS founders have seen incredible growth with Twitter.

Ben shares how to build an audience that wants to buy from you, gets addicted to your content, supports you on every part of your journey and how you can hit 10,000 followers in the next 30 days:

  1. Start with your stories. Now this one will be the most important. Why? Because humans connect with humans through stories. Whatever your tweet/thread is about, it needs to be founded by a story.

    1. I share my ups and downs (story) then provide a lesson.

    2. I share an achievement and then show gratitude.

    3. I share an achievement and a motivational lesson.

    4. I share an achievement along with a value thread.

  2. Endless value. Some of you may find this hard. Not because you're dumb. Not because you're a bad creator. It's because you don't have enough experience! There is one eay to solve this: LEARN. Everyday, strive to learn something new of a skill or understanding. This way, you'll have a recyclable path where you can continuously create from what you're continuously learning. Once you have the knowledge, provide value through Detailed threads, Your newsletters, and Expanded tweets (with twitter blue). Give away everything you know.

  3. Down days. You can often find them on my timeline. I simply share my feelings and thoughts to my audience. These days, you may not even get any valuable content. But you'll get to see the vulnerable side of me. And this is truly the key to connecting more with your fans.

  4. Replies and DMs. Now, I don't respond to every comment, it takes too long. But I my best to Reply to genuine questions, Give support to people in my DMs because that's what genuine people should do. Not because you have to, but because you want to.

  5. Consistent threads. Threads are where my huge growth comes from. I've exploded from 3300 -> 5000 followers the past week. Because I've dropped 3 valuable threads that share my step-by-step processes and help people two steps behind myself. And I plan on dropping more.

  6. Tweet flow. I call it this for one reason. You know when you LITERALLY can't think of ONE tweet? Well this is me, 99.99% of the time. So I make one rule: Write one tweet. No matter how bad. No matter how low value. No matter how cringy I find it.This is because, as soon as it's written, tweet Idea's flow into my brain. And then, it's easy. I continuously write 5-10 tweets and save them into drafts. With a new tweet, comes more Idea's. Please try it for yourself. And then when I can't think, I can tweet my drafts.
